Tomoya Hirota, MD

Tomoya received his MD from Kobe University School of Medicine (Japan), completed his General Psychiatry Residency at Vanderbilt University, and his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at UCSF. He is now an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. He is interested in exploring early developmental trajectories of social, emotional and behavioral problems in young children, and their clinical correlates late in life. His other research interest is investigating how co-morbid psychiatric disorders emerge in individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders. Outside of his clinical and research work, he likes traveling (he seriously misses the years when he was backpacking in Europe and Asia to visit ancient architecture), running, and reading Kazuo Ishiguro's novels.
